Final Project Proposal

Overview
The Problem: Students at UH Manoa want to find available spaces to study, relax, or meet with their peers. Newer students may not know where to locate popular locations like libraries, lounges, and study areas. Additionally, students have different preferences for study environments; some prefer quiet spaces, others need spaces for group study, or maybe they seek specific ammenities.
The Solution: This website will allow students to discover spaces around campuses that will suit well to their wants. This enables students to:
- Filter noise levels (quiet vs. loud)
- Differentiate indoor and outdoor spaces
- Locate spaces with specific amenities (outlets, food, airconditioning)
- Possibly see how crowded a location is
Approach
The goal of this site is to help students make personalize their account to determine where to go on campus by providing community data and personalization.
Students:
- Browse campus locations
- Filter and search for spaces
- Save favorite locations
- Report crowd levels (low, medium, high)
- Possibly add reviews of locations
Admins:
- Moderate user-submitted content
- Edit or remove locations

Mockup page ideas
Some possible mockup pages include:
- Landing page
- User home/dashboard page
- Admin home page
- Map view page
- Individual location page
- User profile page
Use case ideas
Whether or not the following bullet points list all pages or not, the completed use case should show an end-to-end scenario of using the system.
- New user goes to landing page, logs in, gets home page, sets up profile. (How do they learn how system works?)
- Admin goes to landing page, logs in, gets home page, edits site.
- User goes to landing page, logs in, browses locations of interest.
Beyond the basics
After implementing the basic functionality, here are ideas for more advanced features:
- Time-based predictions on when places are busy
- Bookmarking and sharing locations with other users
- Integration with campus events
